About Us
The College of Charleston Women’s Rugby Football Club, founded in 1995 by a tenacious group of college women, began with minimal knowledge of the sport and limited resources. Through determination and impressive fundraising, they formed a team that made it to the national playoffs in their fifth year. Since then, CofC WRFC has welcomed athletes and non-athletes alike, always ready to teach the rules of rugby while fostering a supportive and inclusive community. Over the past 30 years, the club has thrived, shaping student-athletes into hardworking, inspirational citizens. In 2022, former members established the Alumni Association as a 501(c)(3) to continue celebrating and representing the incredible experiences the club provides.
Our mission is to promote the community of Rugby in the Greater Charleston area by creating a supportive, inclusive environment for players of all ages. We are dedicated to fostering leadership, teamwork, and personal growth through mentorship programs for college, high school, and primary school students. By actively engaging in philanthropic efforts and community outreach, we aim to not only advance the sport but also make a positive, lasting impact in the communities we serve. Through financial support and development initiatives, we empower our members to thrive both on and off the field.
